Food Safety and Allergen Policy

Overview

At Shushu’s, we prepare fresh African cuisine with care, using real ingredients, rich spices and proper handling processes.

This Food Safety and Allergen Policy explains important information about ingredients, allergens, dietary preferences and customer responsibility.

Food Preparation

Our meals are prepared fresh daily. We aim to maintain clean preparation practices and careful food handling.

However, food is prepared in a kitchen environment where multiple ingredients may be handled.

Allergens

Our meals may contain or come into contact with allergens or ingredients such as:

  • Fish.
  • Meat.
  • Spices.
  • Vegetables.
  • Grains.
  • Cooking oils.
  • Tomatoes.
  • Pepper.
  • Herbs.
  • Seasoning blends.
  • Other ingredients used in African cuisine.

Because ingredients are prepared in a shared kitchen environment, we cannot guarantee that any meal is completely free from allergens or cross-contact.

Customer Responsibility

Customers with allergies, intolerances or dietary restrictions must inform us before placing an order.

If you have a severe allergy, please contact us directly before ordering so we can advise whether the meal is suitable.

Spice Levels

Some meals may be spicy by nature. Where possible, customers may request:

  • Regular chilli.
  • Mild.
  • Non-chilli option.

Spice levels are prepared as carefully as possible, but taste and heat may vary based on ingredients, preparation and individual tolerance.

Non-Chilli Options

Non-chilli options may be available for selected meals. Customers should clearly indicate this preference when ordering.

While we will make reasonable efforts to honour your request, cross-contact with chilli or spice may occur in a shared preparation environment.

Food Handling After Delivery

Once food has been delivered, customers are responsible for proper handling and storage.

We recommend that hot food is consumed soon after delivery. If storing food for later, keep it refrigerated and reheat properly before consumption.

Shushu’s is not responsible for food quality issues caused by improper storage or delayed consumption after delivery.

Refunds and Replacements

Refunds or replacements may be considered where:

  • The wrong item was delivered.
  • The order was missing an item.
  • The food was damaged during delivery.
  • The food quality issue is reported promptly.
  • The order could not be fulfilled after payment.
  • There is a clear error caused by Shushu’s.

Refunds or replacements may not be approved where:

  • The customer provided incorrect delivery details.
  • The customer was unavailable.
  • The customer changed their mind after preparation.
  • The food was consumed substantially before a complaint was made.
  • The complaint is made too late for reasonable verification.
  • The issue was caused by a third-party delivery platform outside our control.

Please report any issue as soon as possible and provide your order number, photos where applicable and a clear description of the problem.
